About Us

My name is Furaha Grace.
In 2020, I decided to set up a charity/organization in the Democratic Republic of Congo because I felt as if I needed my life-long hope of helping people to fully materialize and be able to work with different humanitarian organizations to meet the needs of less fortunate people; of those who have no hope in their lives.

Before this time, I had been regularly sending essentials such as food, clothing etc to the men, women and children in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This was not as successful as I had hoped and being disappointed, I hoped to begin my own organized and structured organization which would be effective in helping the groups I was targeting.

This experience had a great impact in growing my deep, inward desire to see those who live difficult lives, gain hope and light in the darkness they are living in.

In the past few years, I have done voluntary work in Whittington Hospital (London), feeding/serving food for patients, communicating with them in many ways and encouraging them through the situation each person was struggling/dealing with.
I also volunteered with the youth in Hendon, North West London as well as the local churches and going to different places with the church I was with to give hope to those in need.

Today, I am a healthcare assistant in a London hospital. Being in London, this is where I hope to begin, but my expectation is for the organisation to be international, reaching all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo (specifically areas such as Shabunda, Mwenga, Pangi, Lubumbashi/Katanga and Walikale) and many regions all around the world in order to help women and children who are victims of the evil of this world such as wars, disasters resulting in children becoming orphans; losing father and mother, women being in danger/victim of rape and other hardships; to give them hope for the future.

Goals:
* Take those children, especially in East Congo (Kivu and Goma), who have been affected by the volcano eruption (many being orphans who have lost their parents during the war) who are forced to work as miners with little pay, out of this forced labour and put them in education/schooling.

* Give women who have lost their loved ones during the war, been raped and given birth to unwanted children (who having no father and being unwanted, affects them mentally/psychologically as their mothers are forced to live with shame due to giving birth to these children through rape) and give them hope in life again.

* The Furaha Grace Foundation will cover a number of activities including seminars/conferences for sanitation, health promotion (the sanitation/health of the people has been negatively affected due to factors such as lack of clean water available) and to learn skills in different areas, which will help these widows/children become more skilled in decision making and to be in charge of their future.

The Holy Bible says in the book of Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed” and in another passage (Proverbs 22:9), “He that has a generous eye shall be blessed; for he gives of his bread to the poor.”
The war has lasted a very long time in DR Congo, for many, this harsh life is all that they know. These women (widows) and children who have been ripped away from their husbands/fathers have no hope.

How do you give hope to a person who has no hope and has lost the taste of life?

What do they do?

Where do they go?

Who will take them out of this situation?

These are the many questions people ask themselves in Democratic Republic of Congo every single day.

We hope that through the Furaha Grace Foundation, we can shine the light of love and hope into the hearts of many.

Grace Furaha Foundation is trying to introduce farming/agriculture to enable/help women living in these difficult conditions with children (due to their husbands being killed in war) to work together as they are living in poverty and much difficulty. This will allow them to be actively involved in society and allow them to develop ideas and skills to improve their living. And a better understanding of how to move forward while working together as a community. The war has caused many to become cold and disregard the children, widows and groups affected by the war. Many people do not care for their suffering.
